Hatched by screenwriter Matt Nix and X-Men mainstay Bryan Singer (Days of Future Past, Apocalypse), The Gifted was undoubtedly viewed as one of the more high-profile pilots going into the new season, so it’s small wonder why Fox has wasted no time in ordering the ambitious pitch to series.

Centering on a suburban couple (Amy Acker, Stephen Moyer), Fox’s family drama kicks into high gear once those unassuming – and, crucially, powerless – discover that their children possess mutant abilities. Forced to hit the road in fear of a hostile governmental force, The Gifted will see our nuclear family buddy up with an underground network of mutants, who cobble together as a means to survive. All of this and more is showcased up above, and we understand Fox plans to roll out the full-length trailer on May 15th, so keep it locked to WGTC for more.

Also on board for the new series are Sean Teale, Jamie Chung, Coby, Emma Dumont, Blair Redford, John Proudstar, Natalie Alyn Lind and Percy Hynes White.

Here’s the official logline, courtesy of Fox:

Action-adventure family drama THE GIFTED, from Marvel, tells the story of a suburban couple whose ordinary lives are rocked by the sudden discovery that their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive. Written by Matt Nix (APB, “Burn Notice”), directed by Bryan Singer (the “X-Men” franchise”) and executive-produced by Nix, Singer, Lauren Shuler Donner (“X-Men: Apocalypse,” “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” “The Wolverine”), Simon Kinberg (“X-Men: Apocalypse,” “X-Men: Days of Future Past”), Jeph Loeb (“Marvel’s Daredevil,” “Marvel’s Jessica Jones”) and Jim Chory (“Marvel’s Daredevil,” “Marvel’s Jessica Jones”), the series stars Stephen Moyer (SHOTS FIRED, “True Blood”) and Amy Acker (“Person of Interest”).

It’s official: The Gifted has landed a series order at Fox, and is expected to grace the airwaves sometime in the fall. According to Deadline, other properties in line to be picked up include small-screen comedy series Ghosted and LA -> Vegas. Stay tuned for more on that front.
