Just like old times, eh? Treyarch may be shifting Call of Duty: Black Ops III into the far future – 2065, to be exact – but the studio is also paying homage to the past with the inclusion of The Giant zombies map, beckoning players back to the fan-favorite Der Riese map from World at War.
Featured as part of the game’s Collector’s Edition, the bonus map will once again star Dempsey, Nikolai, Richtofen, and Takeo in their rip-roaring adventure fighting the undead.
News of The Giant Zombies map being locked behind a paywall is disappointing to note, but there’s also an update regarding Black Ops III’s season pass. While neither Treyarch nor Activision have slapped a price on the premium package – $50, we assume – the season pass itself isn’t advertised for Xbox 360, leading many to be believe that it won’t release for Microsoft’s last-gen system. We’ll keep you posted as this story develops.
In the meantime, here’s a rundown of the new-fangled version of Der Riese headed to the shooter’s Collector’s Edition,
“The Giant” Bonus Map picks up the Zombies story where Origins left off. Re-live the chaos of Treyarch’s classic “Der Riese” Zombies map with Dempsey, Nikolai, Takeo and Richthofen. Set in a World War II-era research facility, complete with the weapon-upgrading Pack-a-Punch Machine, Teleporters, and Hellhounds.
Call of Duty: Black Ops III is primed to launch across consoles platforms and PC on November 6. It won’t, however, feature a single-player campaign on PlayStation 3 nor Xbox 360 due to Treyarch doubling down on the current generation of hardware.
