The gaming world, the internet and even your grandmother is all abuzz about Destiny, the new IP from Bungie that comes out later this summer and is looking to revolutionize the saturated and oddly specific online open-world co-op FPS genre.

For those who can’t wait for the official release, Bungie announced that the public beta will launch later this month for both PlayStation and Xbox owners. The beta will come to the PS3 and PS4 on July 17 and run through July 28, while Xbox One and Xbox 360 gamers will have to wait until July 23 to gain access. Their time with the beta will also end on July 28. Codes to join the beta are being released sporadically by various websites and by Bungie, so definitely keep an eye open if you’re looking to join.

In other Destiny news, Bungie revealed some new details for the various editions of the game that will be released, including the Digital Guardian Edition ($89.99, downloadable only), the Limited Edition ($99.99), and the Ghost Edition ($149.99), pictured above. The latter two editions will both include the following perks and presents for gamers:

  • Limited edition SteelBook case and game disc
  • Guardian Folio: Arms and Armament Field Guide, Postcards from the Golden Age, Antique Star Chart
  • Collector’s Edition Digital Content Pack: Unique Ghost Casing, Exclusive Player Emblem, Exclusive Player Ship Variant
  • Destiny Expansion Pass

The expansion pass will give fans access to the first two planned expansion packs for the game, while those playing on PlayStation platforms will receive additional exclusive content for the expansions as well. What makes the Ghost Edition more expensive is the addition of a Ghost replica, complete with Peter Dinklage’s voice(!), various Golden Age Relics and a letter of introduction.

Gamers looking to pre-order digitally will also receive the expansion pack as well as the Digital Content Pack. Once you get all of the different pre-order perks straight in your head, check out a trailer for the beta below and be sure to pick up Destiny when it drops on September 9 on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
