Tales From The Borderlands And Abzu Headline PlayStation Plus Lineup For May 2017

Following, as it always does, hot off the heels of Microsoft's own monthly offering of free games for Xbox Live Gold members, Sony's made public its own selection for PlayStation Plus subscribers, due to be available throughout the month of May. Covering a wide spectrum of genres this month are Tales from the Borderlands and Abzu, both of which will be available on PlayStation 4. If you declined to make the jump from PlayStation 3 to its successor, Blood Knights and Port Royale 3: Pirates and Merchants make up your meal of free titles, while Vita owners can enjoy Laser Disco Defenders and Type:Rider for all their handheld needs. See the full list below.

While it’s a perhaps more lesser-known series in comparison to Telltale’s efforts with The Walking Dead, Batman and the recent Guardians of the Galaxy, Tales from the Borderlands is just as accomplished and successfully transplants the zany humor present in Gearbox’s shoot ‘n loot RPG series to a more story-driven adventure spearheaded by two likeable – and genuinely funny – protagonists.

Abzu, on the other hand, which has been carefully crafted by the folks at Giant Squid, takes you on a whimsical tour of the world beneath the ocean’s surface. Packed with eye-popping visuals and a sense of wonder, the title is often likened to Thatgamecompany’s critically acclaimed Journey.

That about wraps it up for May, but before you go, let us know in the comments below which of this month’s PlayStation Plus titles you plan to shoot for first in the comments below. Oh and don’t forget, you’ve only got a few days to grab last month’s Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime and Drawn to Death before they leave the free rotation for good.
