The Dark Knight Joins The Suicide Squad In New Trailer For Batman: Assault On Arkham

While we may have to wait until 2016 to see Batman and Superman face off on the big screen, we luckily don't have to wait quite as long to see the Caped Crusader in a movie again. In fact, he'll be making two appearances this year in upcoming direct-to-video animated releases from the awkwardly titled DC Universe Animated Movies line.

While we may have to wait until 2016 to see Batman and Superman face off on the big screen, we luckily don’t have to wait quite as long to see the Caped Crusader in a movie again. In fact, he’ll be making two appearances this year in upcoming direct-to-video animated releases from the awkwardly titled DC Universe Animated Movies line.

The first film, Son of Batman, arrives on May 6th, and the second, Batman: Assault on Arkham, sometime this fall. The latter feature will exist independently from the other DCAU films, instead occupying the same space as the popular and successful Arkham video games. The first trailer for the film was released yesterday, and you can check it out below.

Directed by Jay Oliva (The Dark Knight Returns, Justice League: War), Assault on Arkham pits the Dark Knight against the Joker, who has stolen a dirty bomb and rigged it somewhere in Gotham City. Batman then must team up with the Suicide Squad, which includes members like Deadshot, King Shark and Harley Quinn, to take him down.

The film looks like it could be a lot of fun, especially if you’re a fan of the Arkham games. The best part about it is that Kevin Conroy returns as the voice of Batman, while Arkham Origins’ Troy Baker returns as the Joker. Baker may be no Mark Hamill, but he certainly comes close.

They’re joined by Tara Strong as Harley Quinn, Nolan North as the Penguin, Grey DeLisle as Catwoman, Tony Todd as Killer Croc, Neal McDonough as Deadshot, CCH Pounder as Amanda Waller and JB Blanc as Bane. No other plot details or release date for Batman: Assault On Arkham have been announced, but stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
