Come March, we’ll begin to witness the aggressive expansion of Warner’s DC Expanded Universe no thanks to the release of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, and its importance in the grand scheme of things can’t be overstated.

Late last week, it was reputable producer Charles Roven that helped chart the company’s slate from this point forth, and today Collider has published an exhaustive interview with the DC expert that delves into the finer details of Zack Snyder’s colossal showdown, the threat of superhero fatigue and when we can expect another trailer.

First up, Roven tackled the issue of superhero fatigue, which is a topic that has cropped up in recent times with Hollywood heavyweights such as Steven Spielberg weighing in on the matter. Here, the DC producer states that, much like any genre in Hollywood, it’s really a question of the quality of each individual movie.

“I think like any genre, the movies have to be good and you have to keep the audience engaged. One of the things that we’re doing when we’re bringing together the DC Justice League Universe is we’re creating not only stories that work for the individual film but they have some resonance to the other films that we’re doing. And I’m hoping that what’s also gonna keep the interest very keen is we’re telling hopefully compelling stories.”

Later in the piece, Collider then quizzed the producer about what is arguably the main event: the title clash between the two comic book titans. It’s a crossing of paths that almost borders on fan fiction and, in retaining the spirit of Frank Miller’s seminal The Dark Knight Returns, Roven said that fans won’t be disappointed come 2016.

“You will definitely understand when you see the movie why we call it Batman v Superman… I’m excited to have people see it. I think it’s really a wonderful film. I think Zack [Snyder]’s done an amazing job, all of the actors who are in it, we were so lucky. Just think about the cast that we have, from Ben [Affleck] to Henry Cavill, to Amy [Adams] to Jesse [Eisenberg] to Jeremy [Irons] to Larry [Lawrence] Fishburne. Just amazing, and they all really bring it. Really great. Very happy.”

And finally, in what is sure to pique the interest of those pining for more from Dawn of Justice, the producer wrapped up the interview by teasing the arrival of new footage, which is seemingly on course to drop before the year’s end.

“Honestly, you’re going be seeing something very soon… I don’t know how you define soon but certainly before the end of the year, how about that?”

DC couldn’t let Star Wars have all the fun, now, could it? Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice opens in theaters on March 25, 2016.
