Deadpool 2’s Post-Credits Scene Almost Included The Entire Fantastic Four

Such unprecedented success of course opened up a sense of creative freedom on Deadpool 2 which, coupled with input from Ryan Reynolds – the Wade Wilson star earned a writing credit for his contributions here – resulted in a no-holds-barred adventure that was more concerned with meta gags and superhero clichés for most of its runtime than it was with delivering a competent story. A sentiment that many critics echoed.

Nevertheless, Wernick and Reese eventually drew the line at Baby Hitler, Chris Evans and at the entire Fantastic Four showing up, it seems. While discussing all things DP with Yahoo, the scribes touched on the post-credits content that remained on the cutting room floor, saying:

“We had Chris Evans coming in, not as Captain America, but as the Human Torch. And then we had a subsequent scene where all the [2015] Fantastic Four [cast] came in together, including Michael B. Jordan as the Human Torch, to kind of one-up the Chris Evans visit.”

As awesome as that would’ve been to see, we’re pretty happy with what we ended up getting instead. I mean, some have even called Deadpool 2‘s post-credits scene the best of all-time, and we’re inclined to agree with them. From the cheeky jabs at X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Green Lantern to saving Peter and Vanessa, it was one hell of a way to close out the sequel and at this point, all we’re left wondering is how they’ll possibly top it for the next film.

Staying in the here and now, though, and buoyed by its impressive opening ($301M worldwide), Deadpool 2 is currently bracing for its second weekend at the box office, where it’ll face stiff competition from the oncoming Solo: A Star Wars Story.
