1)Â Is Morena Baccarin Playing Vanessa Carlyle?
Wade the mercenary and Vanessa the stripper – it was always gonna be a match made in a slightly messed-up heaven, right?
Though we only have her first name to go on, Morena Baccarin is almost certainly playing Vanessa Carlyle, who in the Marvel comics is the shape-shifting mutant known as Copycat. Whether she’ll have those (or any) powers in the movie remains to be seen, but with so much other crazy stuff going on, there’s a good chance the character’s superhuman abilities will have been scaled back considerably/completely.
2) Wade Wilson Will Also Break The Fourth Wall
In the trailer, we see Wade preparing to undergo the procedure that will give him superpowers… and leave him with a face that would give even Freddy Kruger nightmares. During this scene, he asks them to make sure that his superhero costume is not green, which is obviously a little dig at Warner Bros.’ Green Lantern movie, which starred Ryan Reynolds in the title role.
According to Miller, it was decided early on that Wade will only break the fourth wall when he’s suited up as Deadpool, so this little quip shows that they’re bending their own rules a touch.
