Fan Art Imagines Morena Baccarin As The DCEU’s Catwoman

With female-led, anti-hero-focused projects such as Gotham City Sirens, Birds of Prey and Suicide Squad 2 all in the works, it's only a matter of time until Batman's love interest on the other side of the law, Catwoman, makes her debut in the DCEU. As one of the most iconic female roles in the comic book world, many actresses have already put their names forward to play the part. The latest was Deadpool's Morena Baccarin, and fans have instantly decided that she'd be a great choice to bring Selina Kyle to life.

As one of the most iconic female roles in the comic book world, many actresses have already put their names forward to play the part. The latest was Deadpool’s Morena Baccarin, and fans have instantly decided that she’d be a great choice to bring Selina Kyle to life.

As proof of how right she is for the role, one talented individual created some digital art that imagines Baccarin in costume as Catwoman. In a look based on the character’s design in the Arkham video games, the piece puts the actress in the anti-heroine’s familiar leather catsuit with matching ears and goggles. And, in case you haven’t gotten the whole feline vibe yet, she’s also holding a kitten.

Though wider audiences would probably know her best for playing Vanessa in the Deadpool movies, Baccarin actually has a much longer history in the DC universe. In fact, we wouldn’t be surprised if she held some kind of record for the most DC characters played by one person. In live-action, she’s portrayed roles on Gotham and The Flash, and in animation, she’s voiced such characters as Talia al Ghul, Black Canary and Cheetah. Clearly, she’s due a role in a DCEU movie as well.

While Baccarin might be a top candidate to play Catwoman according to fans, the majority of evidence is pointing to a different actress as the favorite to take on the role. Baby Driver‘s Eiza Gonzalez has been linked to Selina Kyle many times in the past, but there’s been no official confirmation on her being involved from WB, so it could all come to nothing.

In any case, David Ayers’ Gotham City Sirens, which is probably the best bet for where Catwoman will turn up first, doesn’t seem to be in a hurry to get anywhere. So Morena Baccarin might still have a chance, after all.
