Fresh off the heels of Morris Chestnut joining Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall, Deadline is reporting that actor Robert Emms has also been confirmed for Jeff Wadlow’s much-anticipated “superhero” sequel. Emms will play a character named Insect Man, one of the many costumed citizens who act upon the same instincts which influenced Dave Lizewski’s heroic lifestyle.

If we look to the comics, Insect Man is rather reminiscent to Spider-Man, both in physical appearance and character mannerisms. Joining the group Justice Forever around the same time Kick-Ass does, Insect Man fights alongside our main character and other masked vigilantes to protect the innocent.

Being a former cop who is convinced he can do more good gallivanting around under his new identity, Emms’ character boasts a heightened level of fighting skills learned on the job; a valuable talent while helping Kick-Ass fight crime.

While Emms isn’t a household name yet, recent appearances in War Horse and Mirror Mirror are starting to pave the way to bigger roles. Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall could be the big break our young talent needs, launching him into the next tier of Hollywood stars. All that depends on Insect Man’s screen time though, as this could just be another bit part that grants Emms only minor exposure.

Either way, what do you fans think about the new Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall cast members? Does the addition of more heroes like Insect Man and Dr. Gravity promise even more fun than the original?
