Morris Chestnut is on a roll lately, booking some impressive roles for the upcoming year. According to Deadline, not only will Chestnut be starring as the male lead in The Hive, a project from Sony Pictures, but he has also scored a visible spot on the cast of Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall.

Chestnut will be starring in The Hive alongside Halle Berry and Abigail Breslin. The film is about a 911 call center that receives a crisis call from a kidnapped teenager (Breslin) being held in the trunk of a car. Berry’s character, a veteran operator, takes the call and along with her love interest, a police officer played by Chestnut, they desperately search for the missing girl while the clock is ticking.

In Kick-Ass 2, Chestnut will continue to play a role of authority but this time as the guardian of a girl who can surely hold her own. The girl in question is Hit-Girl, played by Chloe Moretz.

Morris Chestnut recently wrapped production on the comedy ID Theft co-starring Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy. Until then, you can check him out in the hit Think Like A Man, coming to DVD and Blu-ray on August 28th.
