One glance at Ryan Reynolds’ Instagram account will tell you that it’s often difficult to tell where Reynolds ends and the Merc With a Mouth begins – hardly surprising, really, considering that the actor has been attached to the role in some capacity for the best part of a decade.

The latest post is of particular interest, however, as it reveals the teasing first poster for Deadpool 2. Bear in mind that the one-sheet appears to be unofficial, particularly given that 20th Century Fox doesn’t plan to jump-start production until early next year at the earliest.

Even still, Reynolds has gone ahead and teased Deadpool: Number Two regardless, posting a mock-up of the Merc With a Mouth checking in on two notable X-Men: Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) and Professor X (Patrick Stewart/James McAvoy). Both actors are poised to appear in James Mangold’s action threequel The Wolverine 3, though this poster ought to spark some interesting speculation online about the cast that Tim Miller et al. is beginning to assemble.

Also of note, Reynolds tentatively places the superhero sequel for release in 2018.

Ahhhhh, @mutant101. Isn’t this a felony?

One major Deadpool 2 role that remains vacant as of yet is Cable, and in recent months everyone from Dolph Lundgren to Ron Perlman to Stephen Lang have came into contention. But until we near the 2017 start date, expect firm details to remain under lock and key.

Furthermore, don’t expect any news to come out of San Diego Comic-Con, either, now that 20th Century Fox has opted to sit out the annual event due to piracy concerns.
