New Thor: Ragnarok Posters Are Super Trippy

Back when Thor: Ragnarok was still an embryonic pitch fastened to one of many whiteboards populating Marvel Studios, writer-director Taika Waititi described his spectacular threequel as a buddy-cop movie involving Hulk and the God of Thunder, two Phase One Avengers that haven't been glimpsed on screen since Age of Ultron - end-credits scenes notwithstanding.

That all changes in November thanks to the release of Ragnarok. Now ruling over Asgard and its gilded corridors of power, Tom Hiddleston’s Loki has finally achieved his twisted dream: to usurp the throne once occupied by Odin. But as we learned last week, it is Loki’s callous ways that leave the door open for the invading Hela, and judging by those magnificent trailers, Cate Blanchett’s Goddess of Death will bring Asgard to its knees in two months’ time.

And so, with that early November release date closing in fast, Marvel Studios is beginning to fire on all cylinders to drum up excitement for Thor: Ragnarok, with the latest piece of the puzzle arriving via a new batch of posters which are colorful, wacky and suitably trippy.

Dubbed a rip-roaring road movie that embraces the “cosmic” nature of the Thor comics – not to mention Greg Pak’s beloved Planet Hulk – Thor: Ragnarok will purportedly introduce us to the funniest version of Chris Hemsworth’s Asgardian yet, and much of that light-hearted fun can be traced back to the comedic interplay between the God of Thunder and Hulk.

Not only that, but the threequel will also herald the hero’s wildest adventure to date, and we can hardly wait. It’s been a long time coming, too, given that Chris Hemsworth’s Norse god remained on the sidelines in Captain America: Civil War – ditto for Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk. Thankfully, we won’t have to wait as long for Thor’s next on-screen appearance, as the Phase One Avenger will be filing into Infinity War in time for its release on May 4th, 2018.
