Aside from taking comic book movies into the cosmic realm, Guardians of the Galaxy is a game changer for the genre since it showed us that even the most unknown and risky properties could become huge box office and critical successes. Thanks to director James Gunn, who packed the film to the brim with visual splendor, inventiveness and some of the most loveable characters ever to grace the screen in a comic book movie, Guardians of the Galaxy changed the game and set a new bar for the genre going forward. We are Groot, indeed.

Tyler Bates Is Back To Score Guardians Of The Galaxy 2

Composer Tyler Bates was a key asset to James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy, as the film's sound, in both its score and of course Star-Lord's Awesome Mixtape, played a huge role. So, we're definitely happy to hear that Bates will be returning to compose the score of the sequel, which is currently titled Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol 2.

Composer Tyler Bates was a key asset to James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy, as the film’s sound, in both its score and of course Star-Lord’s Awesome Mixtape, played a huge role. So, we’re definitely happy to hear that he’ll will be returning to compose the score of the sequel, which is currently titled Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol 2.

Filming on the highly-anticipated flick will get underway this February in Atlanta, and from what we’ve heard so far, the story this time around will place a large focus on the relationship between Star-Lord and is as of yet unidentified father. Other than that, we don’t know a whole lot about what’s in store for our beloved anti-heroes on their second outing.

That being said, Gunn has teased the film as being more emotional, and star Chris Pratt admitted that the script reduced him to tears. So, we can only assume that there will be a lot more drama this time around, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Especially not if it’s accompanied by Bates’ stirring score.

Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol 2 will blast into theatres on May 5th, 2017.
