In their first quarter earnings report this morning, Capcom announced that worldwide shipments of Dragon’s Dogma passed 1 million units as of June 30th. A regional breakdown of sales was not provided, but the company did note that stronger than expected Japanese sales of the new IP made up for “struggling” foreign sales.

Capcom also revealed that Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City shipped an additional 400,000 units during the first fiscal quarter, making it Capcom’s 16th best-selling game, with 2.1 million units sold worldwide LTD. To put that into perspective, the company’s best-selling game of all time remains Street Fighter II for the Super Nintendo, which has sold 6.3 million copies since its release in 1992. Dragon’s Dogma‘s strong debut makes it the company’s 53rd best-selling game, just ahead of Final Fight 2 and Street Fighter Alpha 3.

Other strong performers for the company during the quarter included their social games The Smurfs’ Village and Snoopy’s Street Fair, and the ever popular Monster Hunter Frontier Online.

Company wide, Capcom reported net revenues of 18.6 billion yen, up 55.8% from the first quarter in the prior year. This resulted in 2.6 billion yen in operating income (up 244.4%), and a healthy net income of 1.3 billion yen [$16.8 million USD]. Not bad, eh?
