Easily one of the best episodes of The Flash‘s second season was the instalment helmed by Kevin Smith, and while he’s expected to return for another outing this year, Grant Gustin has some interesting thoughts on another all-star director who could bring their talents to The CW series.
Asked during Comic-Con whether he has any thoughts on other filmmakers he’d like to see work on The Flash, the actor replied:
“Yeah actually. I met Joss Whedon last night. Yeah, that’d be really cool. He was a really nice guy and he loves the show. He’s seen every episode of the show.”
Whether or not Whedon would be interested in working on an episode of The Flash is another matter of course. The filmmaker was pretty worn out by his time directing The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron, and despite recently expressing an interest in directing a Black Widow movie, he has his sights set on a very different sort of film right now.
Whedon is of course no stranger to television, after directing episodes of Firefly, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Glee, and even the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. premiere. The fact that he’s a fan of The Flash surely increases the odds of him working on it at some point, but whether or not he’ll be able to make the time to do so as soon as season three remain to be seen.
Fingers crossed though, as if Whedon did step behind the camera, it could very well be the best (and most hyped) episode of The Flash to date.
