A large number of Arrow fans were left slightly underwhelmed by the way Matt Nable’s Ra’s al Ghul was handled in season four of The CW series, but he’ll be getting another chance to shine in upcoming spinoff show DC’s Legends of Tomorrow,  as the network has confirmed that the actor will be reprising the role.

When we last saw Ra’s, he had fallen at the hands of Green Arrow, leaving Malcolm Merlyn to inherit the mantle. With the Lazarus Pit in Nanda Parbat destroyed, a resurrection seems unlikely, but the time travelling nature of Legends of Tomorrow may provide us with all the answers needed in regards to how and why the villain is back.

While we’re not certain about any specific ties between Vandal Savage and Ra’s al Ghul, the fact that Damien Darhk is set to appear in Legends of Tomorrow could point to an origin story of sorts that the ragtag team of heroes (and villains) somehow get mixed up in. With Savage being immortal and Ra’s previously hinting that he’s lived for hundreds of years, chances are they crossed paths at one time or another too.

Legends of Tomorrow will premiere on The CW on January 21st.
