Gotham has already given us a look at early incarnations of Batman villains like Penguin, Catwoman, Carmine Falcone, and the Riddler, while foes like Victor Zsasz, the Dollmaker, Sal Maroni and Mr. Freeze are on the horizon. Now, we have word that yet another famous and beloved member of the Dark Knight’s rogues gallery is headed to the prequel series: Harvey Dent, the future District Attorney who becomes Two-Face.

According to TV Line, Masters of Sex and Final Destination 5 actor Nicholas D’Agosto has been cast in a recurring role as Harvey Dent, and will debut on the series as an “idealistic Assistant District Attorney.” He’s described as “handsome, warm and engaging, constantly maintaining a sunny disposition even when dealing with the city’s seediest riffraff,” and has the option to become a series regular if Gotham gets picked up for a second season.

I, for one, couldn’t be happier about this news, as Two-Face is one of my all-time favorite comic book villains. We knew that he would show up on the series eventually, and I think D’Agosto is a great choice for one part. I really enjoyed his work on Masters of Sex, and think he could play Harvey’s dual-personalities quite well.

As is the case with all of the high-profile villains on the show, the writers will have to proceed very carefully with Harvey, and not veer too far into showing his villainous side. His eventual transformation into Two-Face is a monumental event in Batman’s career, so it should definitely be saved for when Bruce finally dons the cape and cowl (once the series concludes, of course).

Tell us, are you happy to hear that Harvey Dent is headed for Gotham? Do you think Nicholas D’Agosto is a good choice for the role? Sound off in the comments section below and be sure to catch Gotham when it airs on Monday nights on Fox.
