Black Adam Star Confirms That More DC Supervillains Will Appear

Shooting is just about done on Dwayne Johnson’s DCEU debut Black Adam, but we’re still not entirely sure as to who the villain of the piece is going to be. The title character is a well-known comic book antihero, but The Rock simply doesn’t do villainy, so there’s going to be at least one formidable foe for him to come up against next summer.

The Justice Society of America will also appear via Noah Centineo’s Atom Smasher, Aldis Hodge’s Hawkman, Quintessa Swindell’s Cyclone and Pierce Brosnan’s Doctor Fate, with Sarah Shahi cast as Adrianna Tomaz, a professor and freedom fighter in the fictional Kahndaq who often goes by the superpowered alias of Isis.

Mohammed Amer, Uli Latufeko, James Cusati-Moyer, Bodhi Sabongui and Marwan Kenzari are also on board, but their roles haven’t been confirmed as of yet. However, in a new interview Shahi may have revealed who at least a couple of those names could be playing after confirming the Intergang for Black Adam when discussing her part in the blockbuster epic.

“I play a character named Adrianna, and she’s a freedom fighter that’s leading this big resistance against an evil, malicious group called Intergang.”

In DC comics, Intergang are an organized crime syndicate that possess powerful technology supplied to them by the New Gods, who hail from Darkseid’s home planet of Apokolips. Thanks to their technologically advanced weapons, they can go toe-to-toe with just about any superhero out there, which would presumably include Teth-Adam.

That’s an interesting connection between Black Adam and the wider world of the DCEU, even if the movie still hasn’t been confirmed to exist in the same timeline as the rest of the franchise’s output, but it at least signals that Johnson isn’t going to have an easy time of it in his first solo outing.
