Loki

Loki Confirmed To Return For Season 2

The final episode of Loki is now available on Disney Plus and it’s likely to be quite divisive. Loki and Sylvie finally reached the end of time and discovered that (as predicted by many fans) Kang the Conqueror was pulling the TVA’s strings. But after this reveal, a large portion of the show was spent with the pair sitting around a desk listening to Kang deliver exposition, which doesn’t make for particularly dynamic television.

To make matters worse, the story ended on a cliffhanger. Sylvie kills this timeline’s Kang, resulting in the instant formation of an infinite number of timelines. Loki tried to warn the TVA of what was happening, only to realize to his horror that he was in an alternative reality where nobody knew who he was.

But fans may be consoled by the fact that the mid-credits scene confirms that Loki will return for a second season. This saw Loki’s TVA file get stamped, reading “Loki will return in season 2.”

What he’ll be doing remains a mystery, though the second season will presumably air after the dimension-hopping shenanigans of Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. It seems that those two movies will show the fallout of Sylvie murdering Kang and why the TVA vowed to preserve the “sacred timeline”.

I’m also hopeful that some of the dangling plot threads from season one will be resolved. We don’t know where Gugu Mbatha-Raw’s Judge Ravonna Renslayer disappeared to, the fate of the remaining Lokis inside the Void, or what Sylvie will do now that she’s achieved vengeance for the TVA’s crimes against her.

Let’s hope Marvel Studios don’t want too long to give us answers and we get the second season of Loki in 2022. In the meantime, watch this space for more details.
