It’s been a while since we brought news of Spider-Man: No Way Home passing a major box office milestone, by which we mean almost a week.
Even though the fifth installment in the Scream franchise is set to finally dethrone the 27th installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after four weeks in the top spot, Tom Holland’s third solo outing has already hit one massive benchmark this weekend, and will have smashed through another by the end of today.
Heading into its fifth frame in theaters, No Way Home had amassed an eye-watering domestic total of $683 million, which took it beyond Avengers: Infinity War and into fifth place on the all-time domestic chart. By the time the dust settles on Sunday’s figures, though, that number is estimated to be sitting at $705 million.
Not only would that make Spider-Man: No Way Home just the fifth movie to ever hit $700 million on home soil, it would also establish the reality-bending epic as the fourth highest-grossing domestic release ever, with Avatar, Avengers: Endgame, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens leading the pack.
The $1.6 billion barrier is likely to be breached globally, too, so it’s going to be yet another fruitful weekend for the friendly neighborhood superhero.
