Yesterday the once exclusive bonus PC content coming to the long-awaited Dark Souls: Prepare To Die Edition, was announced to be coming to the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions as well. This news, coupled with the non-GFWL alternative purchase options, suggest that Namco Bandai aren’t anywhere near as brutal as FromSoftware’s once PC precluding game.

The PC players may still be able to take the first stab at this new content when the Prepare To Die Edition launches on the 24th of August, but the consoles won’t have to shield themselves from the inevitable taunts for too long due to the DLC’s “winter” release. Until then, they can console themselves with the following details that Namco Bandai have just revealed about the Dark Souls: Artorias of the Abyss DLC:

“…sprawling new maps and environments; new boss characters, enemies and non-playable characters; an arsenal of new weapons and armour; and additional challenging content for stalwart heroes to face as they return to the deadly world of Lordran.

Players will also experience an as yet untold chapter in Dark Souls lore set in the dying kingdom of magic known as Oolacile. Unwillingly taken by the abyss and sent back in time, the player becomes the only one who can save Oolacile from the spreading darkness that threatens to engulf the kingdom and all of its people.”

As a PC gamer whose soul has been darkened by this title absence on the platform since its release back in 2011, I take a rather sick, sadistic pleasure in knowing that I will be able to experience it before the consoles – If I can survive long enough to see any of it that is.
