After a decisive game 6 win, the Stanley Cup is coming to Los Angeles. This is the first time in team history that they’ve won the Stanley Cup, making this all the more special for them. NHL legend Wayne Gretzky came close but it was not until today that American born Dustin Brown was able to bring the Cup home to L.A.

It was a hard fought series that saw multiple games go into overtime. The winner of all six games in this series was the always the team that scored first, which in game 6 was L.A. Both Martin Brodeur and Jonathan Quick played exceptionally well, controlling the tempo by allowing very few total goals.

Ultimately, the New Jersey Devils ran out of gas, sucumbing to the Kings 4-2 in games after coming back from a 0-3 start. It was an amazing playoffs and a great series. Looking back on my preview of the Stanley Cup finals, I was both incorrect and correct.

My prediction was L.A. to win in seven games with Jonathan Quick as the Conn Smythe winner. In actuality, the Kings won in six games and yes, Quick did win the MVP.

Congratulations to the Los Angeles Kings!
