Latest Sci-Fi News: Fans want a former MCU favorite to get an express farewell as Emily Blunt recalls Tom Cruise’s harsh words to her

Oh, sweet child o' mine.

After fumbling Thor: Love and Thunder, Taika Waititi isn’t in the MCU community’s good graces. In fact, they would just as soon not have him back for another installment, which, in and of itself, speaks volumes about their dissatisfaction with the Phase Four line-up.

Meanwhile, Emily Blunt has revealed what Tom Cruise said to her when she thought she wasn’t going to pull off the exhaustive Edge of Tomorrow shoot. In other news, James Gunn has doubled down on his commitment to the Man of Steel now that he’s overseeing the DCEU efforts, though it’s still unclear what that will entail for Henry Cavill’s future as Superman.

Marvel fans want Taika Waititi banished for good, and never mind how good Ragnarok was

Despite directing one of the best Marvel movies in the none-too-brief history of the cinematic universe, Taika Waititi is not a subject easily brought up nowadays due to his mishandling of Thor: Love and Thunder. The sequel was a decent flick all told, some might even go so far as to describe it as entertaining, but too many ludicrous puns at the expense of the narrative and its characters ruined an otherwise profound study into the concept of mortality and loss. Now, with Love and Thunder not rising to the occasion with the high bar set by its predecessor, MCU fans have a clear message for Kevin Feige and the rest of the powers that be, and it doesn’t bode well for Waititi.

Edge of Tomorrow had a notoriously difficult shoot, what with Emily Blunt being pregnant and even Tom Cruise almost losing his cool at one point because everything was falling apart. Well, it seems that wasn’t the only time tensions ran high on set, with Blunt recently revealing that she once told Cruise “I’m not sure how I’m going to get through this shoot.” In response, the Top Gun star was silent for quite a moment there, and then simply said: “Come on, stop being such a p***y, okay?” In fairness, that might be the most Tom Cruise things Tom Cruise could’ve said in that situation.

James Gunn promises DC fans that Superman remains his “biggest priority”

DC fans recently rejoiced after it was announced that Henry Cavill would be returning to portray the Man of Steel in future installments of the cinematic universe, but with James Gunn taking over and Warner Bros. reevaluating their creative vision, this version of Clark Kent might never don the crimson cape again. When one fan asked Gunn whether we’d ever see Superman in the DCEU again, he replied: “Yes, of course. Superman is a huge priority, if not the biggest priority.” I think that’s as close to an assurance as we’re going to get from the filmmaker at this point in time.
