The third film in the Ant-Man series has finally arrived with the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. It sees Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and the rest of the main characters from the franchise transported into the Quantum Realm, coming face to face with the newest villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors).

The trailers made it seem like the Quantum Realm trip would be quite dire for our heroes, with Scott Lang in particular bruised and bloodied as a result of a showdown with Kang. So it’s worth letting you know if the film panned out like we originally thought, and if Quantumania will be the last film to feature Scott Lang.

Does Scott Lang die in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania?

Even though Scott meets Kang the Conqueror around midway through the film, he manages to make it to the end. Kang tasks Scott with retrieving his multiverse engine core, as Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) had enlarged it during her long stay in the Quantum Realm, rendering it unstable. He manages to shrink the core, with the help of Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly), but Kang steals the core and leaves with Janet and Cassie Lang (Kathryn Newton), Scott’s daughter.

Scott and Hope, along with some Freedom Fighters, Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), and his ants, raid Kang’s stronghold, dispatching waves of enemies, M.O.D.O.K. (Corey Stoll), and eventually the Conqueror himself. Janet manages to create a portal back to Earth, so our heroes manage to get themselves out of the Quantum Realm. Well, everyone except for Scott Lang.

Scott is the last one to go through the portal and just before he can, Kang attacks. Utilizing his skills from Creed III Jonathan Majors’ Kang pummels Paul Rudd’s Scott, beating him into the ground. Just as you think that Lang has met his end, Hope jumps through the portal and together they manage to beat Kang, shoving him into his own multiverse engine, and destroying it.

So, even though Kang is probably free to reign havoc on the rest of the MCU, Scott Lang makes it out of the film alive, living as the man who saved the universe. In fact, not many people manage to get themselves killed in the film, with all our heroes — including the old Ant-Man, Hank Pym — making it out alive. But, even though Scott could appear in another Ant-Man film, it’s quite likely that Kang is the type to hold a grudge.

You can watch Scott Lang get beat up half to death yourself by watching Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania while it is in theaters now.
