Netflix’s ‘Daredevil’ actress breaks silence on character’s recasting for ‘Born Again’

Their failure to return came as a huge blow to the fandom.

Ayelet Zurer has finally given her two cents on her character’s recasting in the upcoming Disney Plus series, Daredevil: Born Again and it confirms many fan’s suspicions.

Unfortunately we won’t be seeing Zurer returning as Vanessa, the wife and accomplice of Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin. it was confirmed earlier this month that Sandrine Holt would be stepping in to play the character. Whilst many questioned the reason for the recast, many wondered if it was Zurer’s choice or not.

Zurer recently shared an article addressing the recast with a caption that suggests that she would have liked to be a part of the series but was unable to.

Her statement does not give any more information as to why she is not coming back for the series although it could be due to scheduling issues. However, her support of fellow cast mate Vincent D’Onofrio is heartwarming.

Disney has made it clear that Born Again will be more of a reboot, suggesting that it won’t really follow the narrative of the first three seasons. Many fan favorites have unfortunately been lost as a result including Elden Henson and Deborah Ann Woll. Although we will be seeing some familiar faces including D’Onofrio as Kingpin, and Jon Bernthal as the Punisher.

Fans spoke out online expressing disappointment when the recast was announced.

Whilst Zurer was great in the role of Vanessa, it’s clear that Marvel would rather build its own characters in the MCU rather than rely on the foundations set up by Netflix. We’ll have to wait until next year to see Sandrine Holt’s performance and find out if the recast paid off.
