Another day, another whiny rant from former President Donald Trump about how all of the “ridiculous” investigations against him are not legitimate and are only happening because of political persecution. Sure.
As an added bonus, the rant is in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS, LIKE THIS. Doesn’t that make me seem completely sane and not at all unhinged and unstable? Per usual, Trump took to his failing social media site Truth Social to make the claims.
Ever since he was indicted and arraigned over charges relating to paying off a porn actor named Stormy Daniels for sex and then hiding the money in a tax scheme, Trump has been blaming literally everyone and everything else for his current predicament. It’s a sham! It’s political! It’s pathetic how people fall for this every time. Here’s the full message:
“THE ONLY REASON I HAVE THESE ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS INVESTIGATIONS AGAINST ME , HEADED UP BY RACISTS, LUNATICS, AND RADICAL LEFT MANIACS, IS FOR PURPOSES OF ELECTION INTERFERENCE. IT WILL BE HARDER FOR THE DEMOCRATS TO CHEAT LIKE THEY DID IN 2020, SO THEY ARE GOING RIGHT TO THE OLD SOVIET UNION PLAYBOOK AND USING THE DOJ, FBI & OTHERS IN “JUSTICE” TO INTERFERE IN OUR ONCE SACRED ELECTIONS. WE’VE GOT TO SWAMP THESE CHEATERS, AND WE WILL WIN!”
Let’s be honest here. If you got the above message from someone, you would worry for their health and in no way say they should be the President of the United States again. The “Soviet Union playbook?” There’s no DOJ or FBI in Russia. There are no political parties. There’s a dictator. In Russia, Trump wouldn’t even be allowed to voice his displeasure without very serious consequences.
He’s using our democratic system, which allows for dissent, to say that our system is like Russia’s, which isn’t true. This mind- bendingly incorrect analysis of the truth is dangerous to the millions who believe that this billionaire has their best interests at heart. It’s like someone trying to tell you it’s nighttime when it’s daytime and then million of others also saying that even though it’s clearly not. Maddening.
Here’s another gem. “Our once sacred elections.” Never in our history as a country have we ever had an issue with elections, and claims of a stolen election have been proven untrue. Trump is the one that sewed those ideas into our collective national fabric. He’s the one who inspired Kari Lake to blatantly lie about her election in Colorado, which has been thoroughly debunked.
Lying in plain sight is how Trump operates. At some point, something’s gotta give. Hopefully it’s not our Democracy.
