Florida is asking ‘Where’s Ron?’ as DeSantis remains unresponsive during historic Fort Lauderdale flooding

It may be getting harder for DeSantis to ignore climate change.

You know how Republicans like to ignore climate change and claim it’s a hoax? It’s getting pretty hard to ignore in red state Florida, which received record amounts of rain recently and is experiencing the worst flooding in 50 years. It’s so bad that the airport in Ft. Lauderdale had to close and the city’s mayor declared it an emergency. Where’s Ron DeSantis? That’s something a lot of people want to know.

So many, in fact, that the phrase was trending on Twitter today. Perhaps all the attention (or his lack thereof) spurred him into action. Perhaps he realizes that if he wants to be President one day, he has to focus on disasters in his home state instead of peddling his one-sided book.

For context, this is the type of thing we were dealing with.

Looks like it worked! DeSantis eventually decided to declare a state of emergency in Broward County, where the worst of the flooding is taking place.

Better late than never, I guess. Take a look at this list of “impassable roads” from the City:

You know what’s worse than a 50-year-flood event? A “once-in-every-2,000-years” storm. But yeah, climate change sounds like a hoax. This is going to be hard for DeSantis, the potential Republican presidential nominee, because Republicans are not keen on climate change as an issue they want to deal with.

The more these catastrophic weather events happen, the harder it’s going to be for those old white guys in suits to ignore them. Wait, what am I saying – they’ve been ignoring gun control since 2004. Until next time!
