‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ is already being pushed as an Oscars contender

Considering the first film, we're sure nobody is surprised.

Early reactions for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse have emerged on social media as some lucky fans and critics got a glimpse of the long-awaited sequel to the 2018 Oscar-winning film. Based on the early comments, it seems the sequel will be another strong contender come next awards season.

Viewers said they were blown away by the sequel’s story, saying it’s “much darker” than its predecessor. It’s not just the story, people also praised the film’s animation and soundtrack that you pretty much have to be there to fully appreciate the amount of effort that has been put into it.

Viewers argued that this film could be a strong contender for next year’s Award season since it’s a “visual masterpiece.” There are also early predictions that it could win ‘Best Animated Feature’ at the 56th Academy Awards. Could it be a strong contender? You have to see it to find out.

Expect Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse to be bigger than its predecessor. It was reported that 240 characters will be featured in this film, most of which include different Spider-Man variants. This action-packed Spidey-sequel is set to be following up by yet another instalment, titled Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-verse, which is set to be be released in 2024.

Across the Spider-verse will feature the return of most of the faces you’re already familiar with. Joining this film will be Jason Schwartzman as Spidey-villain, The Spot, and Oscar Isaac as Miguel O’Hara / Spider-Man 2099, leader of the Spider-Society. The film will have Miles Morales choose between the people he loves and the world, as well as figuring out what it means to be a hero.

If you want to see if these early claims are true, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will be swinging into theaters on June 2, 2023.
