‘I’m exploding with excitement’: DC star cruelly kicked to the curb still can’t wait for people to see ‘The Flash’

There's clearly no hard feelings.

The Flash is about to deliver Sasha Calle as Supergirl, marking the first time the Girl of Steel has been played by a Latina actress. However, if we weren’t stuck in the darkest timeline, the DC universe could’ve given us a similar much-needed first already in the tragically booted Batgirl movie, which was all set to star Leslie Grace as Barbara Gordon.

Despite her, let’s face it, pretty shoddy treatment from Warner Bros. Discovery over what should’ve been her own grand entrance into the DC multiverse, Grace apparently holds no ill will towards the franchise as she’s now gushed over how much she enjoyed The Flash. In particular, Calle’s performance as Kara Zor-El, as she’s “exploding with excitement” for the world at large to see her interpretation of Superman’s Kryptonian cuz, which Grace describes as “such a win.” As per Entertainment Weekly:

“I got to see [The Flash] two nights ago, and to watch her shine and do her thing and know that the world will see it, it is such a win,” Grace says. “I’m exploding with excitement for everyone to be able to see her rep us, to see her shine, especially after everything that has occurred.”

Grace has always been a wonderful and enthusiastic champion for Batgirl, Latinx superheroes, and DC as a whole, which is just another reason it stung so much that WB hung her out to dry with Batgirl — as a reminder, the film’s release was cancelled and it’s now forbidden from being released in any form due to a tax write-off. You would think Calle’s rise as Supergirl in The Flash might bring back painful flashbacks to her Batgirl experience, but clearly Grace only has positive thoughts about her fellow superheroine.

Needless to say, James Gunn — if you’re reading this — how about giving us a Batgirl/Supergirl team-up movie with both Grace and Calle aboard, huh?
