Latest Marvel News: ‘Secret Invasion’ was doomed the moment it got compared to Disney Plus royalty as Samuel L. Jackson demands dream crossover

Rotten Tomatoes is not being kind...

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is set to return to our screens just next week with the premiere of Secret Invasion, but — as we’ve become unfortunately used to of late — the pre-release hype isn’t as encouraging as we’d like it to be. And it might all be thanks to the pesky curse of being compared to Disney Plus royalty. Elsewhere, Samuel L. Jackson knows exactly where he wants to show up in the MCU next and James Gunn has some shocking thoughts on who’d win in the Civil War we never saw.

Secret Invasion first reactions say it’s Marvel’s answer to Andor, Rotten Tomatoes disagrees

Disney may have just confirmed the return of a major 'Andor' star for season 2

Andor was amazing, no doubt about that, but the Star Wars franchise has already found out that the acclaimed series casts a long shadow that’s difficult to escape. Even The Mandalorian‘s latest season paled in comparison to the Rogue One prequel in fans’ eyes. So, you might think it would be encouraging that first reactions to Secret Invasion claimed it was Marvel’s answer to Andor. Unfortunately, this was proven to be a curse just a few hours later when the show’s Rotten Tomatoes score arrived, revealing it was less Andor and more Thor: Love and Thunder.

Wakanda Never: Samuel L. Jackson wants to know why he hasn’t been in a Black Panther movie already

At this point, Samuel L. Jackson is the longest-lasting star of the MCU, having made his first appearance at the end of 2008’s Iron Man and still going strong. Over time, he’s rubbed shoulders with pretty much all of the Avengers, but the Marvel legend is still impatiently awaiting an invite to one subfranchise that he’s been curiously snubbed from so far. Specifically, as Jackson puts it, he’s still waiting for a “ticket” to Wakanda in order to hang out with Shuri, the Dora Milaje, and company. Ryan Coogler, you have your orders. Make it happen in Black Panther 3.

James Gunn holds nothing back when declaring who would win between the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy

James Gunn is now officially at home over at DC, so he can basically say whatever he likes about the MCU at this point — and that’s exactly what he’s doing. While making an explosive podcast appearance, Gunn gave his shocking, not at all biased take on who’d win in a fight between the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy. According to Gunn, the Guardians would “easily beat the s**t out of the Avengers,” thanks to their advanced outer-space technology. Well, that’s what you claim, Mr. Gunn, but we can’t know for sure unless you come back to Marvel to make this Civil War 2 movie.

Emilia Clarke might be scared to say literally anything about Secret Invasion for fear of angering the Marvel gods, but it’s no spoiler to say further updates from the MCU will drop very soon.
