Last week Gotham Knights became the latest DC show at The CW to get canceled and now one of the show’s leading stars Misha Collins has finally chimed in on the news.
“I’m incredibly bummed and selfishly disappointed to not be able to fully explore my villain arc,” Collins said in a lengthy post shared to social media. The star explained that he had been off the grid over the past week and only now had a chance to address the developments.
In Gotham Knights, Collins played Harvey Dent, a character that DC fans will know goes on to become the iconic Batman foe Two-Face. During its run, the show didn’t have enough time to develop the character into his villainous persona.
Continuing, Collins gave praise to the team who worked on Gotham Knights and says that he is proud of the show which ran for a single season kicking off earlier in the year. Collins says that a highlight of Gotham Knights was getting the opportunity to bring diverse and inclusive stories to the screen, and he hopes that thanks to the DC show more characters from diverse backgrounds with get a chance to shine.
The cancellation of Gotham Knights might have been bad news for those who had enjoyed the first season, but it wasn’t a big surprise to the larger DC fandom. From the moment its first trailer dropped the show received overwhelming criticism and ridicule.
While it was said to have garnered a dedicated fanbase, Gotham Knights was never able to win the support of the DC community. And given its cancellation, this must have shown in viewership figures.
The silver lining for fans of The CW and DC is that Superman & Lois—the last-standing DC series on the network has been renewed for a fourth season.
