A Warner Bros. reboot set to restore a $3.2 billion franchise to greatness is already getting thrown on the scrapheap

The Marvel vs. DC battle is ruthless sometimes.

With James Gunn revealing he’s super-close to finding our new Superman, you’d think excitement for Superman: Legacy would be an all-time high right now, but alas the stiff competition it’s facing in the superhero sphere over the next couple of years is earning it an embarrassing dishonor.

As proof that trending on Twitter isn’t always a good thing, Superman: Legacy is receiving a lot of chatter today all thanks to a challenge being set to the comic book film fans of the internet. From 2024-2017 we’ll be treated to four of the most anticipated entries in the genre of the decade. From Marvel, Deadpool 3 and Avengers: Secret Wars and The Batman – Part II and Legacy from DC. But @ComicAnalyst got people talking when they dropped the challenge: “One has to go.”

You might think this would be an impossible choice, but actually it seems it was an easy pick for people to make: it’s Legacy.

It seems to be an issue of optics. While The Batman 2, DP3, and Secret Wars have the benefit of however many previous installments behind them, Legacy being another reboot means it has to come bottom of the pile.

For others, the injustice suffered by the DCEU is reason enough to cancel Legacy.

Some took the question from the approach of box office predictions. Will Legacy really earn the least of these four films?

Well, at least they said sorry.

Logic dictates a loss for Legacy, apparently.

On the other hand, Secret Wars surprisingly received a fair amount of votes as well.

The so-so Multiverse Saga so far has set some up to expect disappointment.

It’s likely that this tweet being posted so soon after the release of The Flash, which is doing much to flush all remaining good will for the DC cinematic universe down the toilet, had something else to do with fans being so ready to eject Superman: Legacy from existence. Give him some time, though, and Gunn can still definitely turn the tide of public opinion around on this one.
