A secret Disney Plus special may finally give Scarlet Witch fans what they want

Elizabeth Olsen’s arch-sorceress Scarlet Witch has been missing from the MCU since she broke bad in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but with the former Avenger in desperate need of a redemption, Wanda Maximoff defenders have been campaigning for her to get some kind of solo project to restore her to her former heroic glory.

Well, while it is far from confirmed, at least a new rumor gives us hope that Disney Plus could be about to dreamwalk our hopes into reality. According to scooper MyTimeToShine on TikTok, any talk of a Mephisto special being made as a spinoff of Agatha: Coven of Chaos are inaccurate. What’s actually happening, as per this source, is that Marvel is secretly shooting a Witches Road special instead, which we can assume will star Olsen’s Wanda.

The Witches Road storyline is a popular Scarlet Witch comic book arc that has long been a favorite to see adapted to the screen. Marvel even gave us a big clue this was happening when the cover for Witches Road #4 appeared in the She-Hulk: Attorney at Law finale. And it would make a lot of sense to happen after Agatha, as it could build on the expansion of Marvel’s witchy mythology and see Wanda exploring her connection to her powers after her recent dark turn.

What’s more, fellow scooper CanWeGetSomeToast appears to have corroborated this claim, although they added an unfortunate caveat to it in their own post. While attaching a clip from Werewolf By Night and a Witches Road cover, CWGST tweeted that Marvel is looking to cut back on how many Special Presentations it’s making in the long-run, which fits with everything we’ve heard about its Disney Plus content being minimized.

Seeing how popular WBN and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special were with fans, it would be bad news if we were getting hardly any more Special Presentations to come. And yet a Scarlet Witch special would be a good thing, so we’re in two minds about wanting this rumor to be true. Are we sure Mephisto’s got nothing to do with this devil’s bargain?
