‘So embarrassing’: Badly made-up Donald Trump compares self to Harry Truman dropping a nuclear bomb on Japan

Fire that make-up artist!

One of the secrets of Donald Trump‘s success is that he has zero shame about being his biggest cheerleader. Without batting an eyelid, he’ll praise himself to high heaven, or invent compliments in which other people tell him how intelligent and handsome he is.

All of which means we probably shouldn’t be surprised that he’s comparing his Iran bombing campaign – the actual results of which remain unknown – to President Harry Truman dropping Fat Man and Little Boy on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

As he said to journalists at the White House, the attack “reminded people of a certain other event and is uh – Harry Truman’s picture is now in the lobby in a nice location in the lobby where it should have been – and that stopped a lot of fighting. And this stopped a lot of fighting. When that happened, it was a whole different ball game”.

As many in the comments rapidly pointed out, nobody was comparing Donald Trump to Harry Truman except Donald Trump. Even if the comparison were accurate, being proud that you can be compared to someone dropping nukes on civilian cities isn’t a good thing.

Or, to put it another way: “Get this hot mess out of there. So embarrassing.”, “A hero in his own mind, no comparison.” and “What a proud moment in the history of the US to have wiped out hundreds of thousands of innocent lives in one swipe.”

Face first into dirt

But let’s draw back from what he said to examine how he looks right. Mocking Trump for his orange makeup at this point is the definition of cringe. Yes, he looks weird, but at this point, we’ve had years to get used to it. Even so, whoever’s currently applying it needs to up their game immediately. Perhaps it’s the angle, but the contrast between his normal pink skin and overly bronzed face makes him look like – as one reply put it – like he’s fallen face-first into dirt.

C’mon, White House staff, surely at this point the president can get a make-up artist who will just make him look regular ridiculous rather than like an actual clown! Yes, things are bad all over, but we can’t have Trump running around looking this bad! Everybody is already laughing at the United States – this is the last thing the nation needs!
