‘I think I’m done with that’: J.Lo swiftly shuts down 7th marriage proposal mid-concert

J. Lo is now focused on one thing.

Jennifer Lopez is on tour, and she wants everyone to know that despite her six prior engagements and four marriages, the only thing on her mind right now is her career.

During Wendy Williams’ prime days — when her show was a dark yet brilliant mash of humor, reality, and biting depreciation — she once rolled out a chart mapping all of Jennifer Lopez’s engagements over the years. Since then, it’s become a fringe internet obsession. Everywhere you look, you’re likely to find comparisons of her various engagement rings, with her on-and-off beau Ben Affleck even claiming two spots on that list. So, when Lopez’s tour stopped in Spain, and a fan showed up with a different kind of chart, this time asking her to marry him, it was only fitting.

J.Lo’s performances are back at their best, and these kinds of requests are par for the course for stars like her, but this was a very specific request. Jennifer Lopez felt it at least deserved a direct response. And respond she did.

The video has since been posted online, gaining considerable traction. The “Love Don’t Cost a Thing” singer points at the fan and says, “I think I’m done with that. I’ve tried that a few times,” sending the crowd into rapturous laughter as J.Lo flashes a smirk — one that suggests she wasn’t exactly joking.

Over the years, Jennifer Lopez has been married four times and changed her legal name three times. Perhaps she’s finally reaching the conclusion that this particular type of relationship just doesn’t work.

One commenter on X took the opportunity to encourage the pop star, telling her she looks “happier and prettier now,” before tagging Ben Affleck directly and urging J.Lo not to let him back into her life.

That remains to be seen. Ben Affleck seems to love his old flames, and corners of the internet love the joke that he and J.Lo are the type of lovers destined to be on and off until the end of time. Whether they’ll ever be able to shake off their hang-ups for each other remains to be seen. There’s probably even a running bet about it on Polymarket. One thing is certain, though: if they do get back together, they can simply move back into their old matrimonial home, since it stubbornly refuses to get off the market despite their attempts to sell it.

Ultimately, the commenter on X is right. J.Lo seems like she’s doing better than ever, able to poke fun at herself before the celebrity TV shows can beat her to it. That’s exactly how you’re supposed to be when you’re recovering from a divorce. And while J.Lo making the entire internet laugh isn’t exactly surprising, looking back, she’s kind of always been the funnier one in the Bennifer relationship — whether that’s always intentional is another story.
