U.S. President Donald Trump speaks during an executive order signing in the Oval Office at the White House on February 11, 2025 in Washington, DC. Trump is to sign an executive order implementing the Department of Government Efficiency's (DOGE) "workforce optimization initiative," which, according to Trump, will encourage agencies to limit hiring and reduce the size of the federal government. ‘It has never been this bad’: MAGA influencers miserable as Trump presidency flop tanks viewing figures

The era of the angry bearded middle-aged man ranting about girls in 'Star Wars' is over.

The MAGAsphere whooped and hollered like all their Christmases had come at once when Trump won his landslide 2024 victory. All those endless videos grousing about girls in Star Wars, those frothing videos about some video game woman showing a millimeter less cleavage, those Ben Shapiro reaction videos – they weren’t all for nothing!

Cut to the present, and it’s safe to say the party is over. The MAGA influencers may have gotten what they wanted, but it turns out that when your guy is actually president and doing wildly unpopular and stupid things every day, fewer people want to watch your overweight bearded self frothing about trivialities.

Over on YouTube, notorious chud The Quartering (aka Jeremy Hambly) – proud author of videos like “Modern Women Suck”, “Race Wars!”, and “Switch 2 OUTRAGE” – convened a livestream meeting with other MAGA influencers to complain that his viewing figures are now in the toilet and his income is dwindling:

“It has never been this bad. The internet has never felt this dead to me, ever. … And I’ve been producing content nonstop for maybe twelve years.”

Victory turns to ashes in their mouths

Those participating in the livestream (which is inane drivel I regret exposing myself to) theorizes what’s causing this. One is that there’s a glut of people unfunny even by their low standards, trying to wring outrage out of uncontroversial topics and poisoning the well for everyone. It’s also argued that even the channels they consider good are pumping out way too much low-quality slop, causing people to “give up on the internet”.

Or, alternatively, maybe people are increasingly sick of watching middle-aged overweight men in baseball caps, surrounded by action figures, insisting that women are stupid.

With Trump 2.0, we’re now living in the world these goobers promised for us, and anyone with eyes can see that it’s a cruel, depressing, and deeply stupid nightmare. Even Trump himself has let them down, turning on his base and insisting that anyone who cares about Jeffrey Epstein is a moron.

All of which leaves them with a choice. Either stay on board the Trump train and pray the situation improves, or split from him completely. Neither choice is great: you either look like an idiot as you’re forced to regurgitate whatever inane thing Trump spouts while pretending it’s genius, or criticize him and be accused of going woke.

But there is a third choice! Get a job. Like, an actual job! I’m sure Amazon needs people to bring coffee to its robots or something.
