Stolen “roach” blamed for brutal rock attack at Ohio Arby’s

Two people from Kettering, Ohio, are in serious legal trouble after a dispute over a stolen “roach,” a slang term for the end of a marijuana blunt, led to an alleged rock attack at a local Arby’s restaurant.

According to WHIO, on September 11, 2025, police say 21-year-old Stevi Creech struck an Arby’s worker in the face with a rock, leaving the woman screaming and bleeding outside the restaurant. Authorities accuse Creech’s companion, 26-year-old Gerrin Rankin, of menacing a witness who tried to intervene.

It was all caught on camera

According to investigators, the confrontation stemmed from a personal quarrel the night before, when Creech accused the Arby’s employee of stealing her roach. Surveillance video reportedly shows Creech walking into the restaurant the next day with a rock in her hand and heading straight for the drive-thru area.

Moments later, Rankin followed her inside. The footage appears to show Creech striking the worker, while witnesses told police Rankin acted in a threatening manner toward a bystander, reaching for his waistband in a way that made it seem he had a weapon.

The victim survived the attack but suffered significant facial injuries, police said. Officers responding to the scene found her outside the restaurant, bloodied and crying for help. Witnesses described the incident as both sudden and frightening, with one customer noting that it escalated in seconds from a verbal dispute to physical violence.

Creech could face jail time

Prosecutors charged Creech with felony assault, a second-degree charge in Ohio that can carry a lengthy prison sentence. She remains booked in the Montgomery County Jail on a $25,000 bond, with court records showing a no-contact order in place to protect the victim.

Rankin is facing a misdemeanor charge of criminal menacing for his role in the incident. Police arrested Rankin the following day on the same $25,000 bond. Rankin is currently free under conditions that also bar him from contacting the victim.

If Creech is convicted of felonious assault, sentencing could depend on whether the court views the use of the rock as a deadly weapon. Rankin, although facing a less serious charge, could still face fines, probation, or jail time. Creech is scheduled to appear in court on September 22, 2025.

Authorities say the case is still active, with prosecutors reviewing evidence from surveillance footage, witness accounts, and police interviews. No trial date has yet been set, and neither Creech nor Rankin has entered a plea.

The case has also drawn attention online, where the unusual motive — a fight over a roach — has fueled discussion. Yet for the victim and her co-workers, the attack was no laughing matter, as the restaurant had to close temporarily to deal with the aftermath of the assault.
