Donald Trump’s act totally crumbles as he desperately blames the entire GOP for their ‘rightfully brutal’ future

He throws them under the bus the second it gets bad.

President Trump is absolutely ramping up his rhetoric, issuing an aggressive warning that Senate Republicans will suffer “rightfully brutal” electoral losses if they don’t immediately move to eliminate the filibuster. This isn’t just a suggestion; he’s openly blaming his own party for future failures, telling them they’re going to lose the Midterms and the next Presidential Election if they don’t adopt the “Nuclear Option.”

He made it crystal clear that he thinks failure to act guarantees Democratic victories, especially after his own failures. Trump argued that if the filibuster stays put, Republicans won’t be able to get “Common Sense Policies done” because the opposition will block everything by withholding their votes, per The Hill.

He warns that this gridlock means three years where “NOTHING WILL BE PASSED,” resulting in Republicans being absolutely blamed by voters. That’s a terrible position for any majority party to be in, and I totally get why he’s worried about the optics of inaction. He warns that if they keep the filibuster, elections “will be rightfully brutal.”

This is democrat’s chance to beat the GOP

The filibuster is the Senate rule that requires most legislation to earn a whopping 60 votes to pass. If Republicans gut it, they could pass bills with a simple majority, which is what the GOP used to pass the recent stopgap funding bill to reopen the government. Trump thinks if they manage to terminate the filibuster, they could get “EVERYTHING approved, like no Congress in History.” That’s a huge claim, but it makes sense why he’d push for it if he wants to see major policy wins now.

He even detailed the specific laws he wants to push through once the 60-vote threshold is gone. This includes protecting gun laws, changing election legislation, and passing laws that outlaw transgender women from competing in women’s sports. These are high-stakes, base-energizing issues, and he knows they stand no chance under the current rules. If you’re looking for major, quick legislative victories, eliminating the filibuster is definitely the fastest route.

The president also has a major fear factor he’s pushing: Democrats are going to do it anyway. He insists that if the Democrats manage to retake the Senate majority, they will definitely eliminate the filibuster so they can pass massive changes. He says they would expand the Supreme Court or grant statehood to Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico. He pointed out that they’ve already tried to change the filibuster rules before, specifically for voting rights legislation, but they fell just two votes short of success.

The problem for President Trump is that many Republicans just aren’t buying the threat. It doesn’t look like he has the necessary support to make this happen. Several key players are actively pushing back, arguing that the filibuster is actually a crucial bulwark that protects the rights of the minority party.
