Woman says Texas bar kicked her out for breastfeeding her baby on their first Father’s Day. The manager was allegedly watching on camera

The reaction was split.

“They ruined my family’s first Father’s Day.” That was how a TikTok creator described a Texas burger joint near where she lives after she alleged the restaurant ejected her because she was breastfeeding.

The original post was made by a user who goes by @carnivoreaura. Her content usually focuses on how she uses an “ancestral diet” to reclaim her health. But this time around, she took a break from dietary influencing to tell her followers how her Father’s Day lunch did not go according to plan.

The manager was monitoring the surveillance footage

Aura claims she went to Nowhere Bar in Celina, Texas, and everything was fine until she had to breastfeed her infant. She recounted that a member of the staff first approached her and asked whether someone had complained. According to Aura, the employee told her the manager had been monitoring the surveillance cameras and said they couldn’t do that.

It was at that point that Aura decided her time at the restaurant should end. She claimed she asked for the check so her family could leave, but apparently the owner heard about the complaint and told them he would cover their tab and they could go. Aura, however, still found the situation humiliating and decided to let TikTok do what TikTok does best.

@Nowhere Bar – Celina Sharing because I don’t know how else to deal with my anger, heart break, and disappointment. I celebrated my husband’s first Father’s Day today, or atleast tried to. We went to nowhere bar in Celina, TX, and was kicked out for breast feeding my 5 month old son. An employee approached us and told us we can’t breastfeed on premise because this is a “family establishment”. Mind you there’s four tables sat in the entire restaurant, we’re one of them, and we are the only “family” there. The other three were couples all 30+. We asked if anyone complained and the lady answered her manager watches the cameras…. What kind of creepy ass manager do you have? Then we asked to speak to said manager and she said she was the manager? Then she’s like I got off the phone with the owner and they said we’ll cover the bill yall can go. Oh and the cherry on top, they’re ✨women owned✨

The restaurant later responded to the allegations with a video of its own on Facebook. One of the owners said, “To be direct, Nowhere Bar does not prohibit breastfeeding. We have never asked anybody to stop breastfeeding. We have never asked anybody to leave because they were breastfeeding, and that has not and will not ever be our policy.”

The owner said the parties involved simply have different perspectives on what happened that day, but added that they deeply regret a customer left with such a negative experience. And it didn’t end there. Even in Aura’s comment section, users were split almost right down the middle over the etiquette of breastfeeding in a public restaurant.

Aura then released follow-up videos responding to both her original post and the restaurant’s rebuttal. She posted a video of herself breastfeeding and said she was saddened by how society has become “anti-natural” and “sexualized.” She encouraged people to simply accept each other’s bodies and remember that, at its most basic level, breastfeeding is simply a child eating.

She continued her defense of breastfeeding mothers

She later posted another video saying she is more than ready to defend anyone who is shamed for breastfeeding in public. One user commented, “I breastfed all four of my kids including a set of twins. I quickly stopped trying to cover in public — too hot and too much work. Nursing my babies is one of the sweetest memories of young motherhood.” She continued, “At the time it felt like I’d be nursing forever—but now it’s in the rearview. Never let anyone make you feel less than a powerful queen for nursing your baby.”

There will always be debate over how children should be raised, and where someone lands on issues like this often depends on their own experiences with parenthood. In this case, the internet once again found itself divided over where public etiquette ends and parenting begins.
