Swedish dad’s kids tell him it would be ‘so cool’ if he broke a world record and what he shoves up his nose to make it happen is wild

Things dads do for their children.

A dad from Sweden just set a pretty weird world record, and it all happened because his kids pushed him to do it. Martin Ströby, who is 42 years old, managed to fit 81 matches inside his nose and got himself into the Guinness World Records book.

According to UPI, the whole idea came from his children, who were really into reading the newest Guinness World Records book. They thought it would be amazing if their dad could break a record too. When they first suggested it, Ströby did not think he was skilled enough at anything to become the best in the world. But after looking through all the different records with his kids, he figured he might be able to find something he could actually do.

He picked the record for stuffing the most matches into your nose. Before he tried it, someone else held the record with 68 matches. When Ströby started practicing, he found out he could stretch his nostrils way more than he expected and deal with the pain pretty well. He said he was basically born to do this.

This guy really went through some trial and error to perfect his match-stuffing technique

Getting to the record was harder than you might think. Ströby had a real problem when he was practicing. Every time he put three matches in, at least one or two would fall right back out. He needed to figure out a way to keep them all in there.

He did a bunch of practice runs to work on his method. After trying different things, he finally figured out how to do it without losing matches all over the place. That hard work paid off when he got all 81 matches in and officially broke the record. People have gone to extreme lengths for Guinness World Records before, like one fan who tried to watch Avengers: Endgame 200 times to set a record.

“After doing the trial run, I discovered I could both stretch my nostrils a lot and also ignore the pain from putting all those matches in there, so I would say I’m a natural,” Ströby said. “I did however try to find a good technique because matches kept falling out of my nostrils. Three inserted matches meant one or two falling out. I did some more trial runs and did eventually find a technique I could utilize to minimize the number of matches falling out.”

For Ströby, this was not just about doing something weird for fun. He said that being a dad means he wants his kids to respect him the same way he respects his own father. He talked about how his dad taught him so many things that he could not even list them all.

Ströby beat the old record by 13 matches, which is pretty impressive. Sure, the record itself sounds strange to most people, but it was a cool moment for his family and something special he did for his children.

The fact that he put up with the pain and spent time getting better at it shows how much he wanted to make his kids happy. His achievement joins other unique Guinness World Records, including a Netflix horror series that broke the record for most jump scares.
