Some people will do nearly anything to get attention online. But one man on TikTok may have taken it a step too far when he recorded himself walking around the streets of multiple cities handing out alcohol and large machetes to the homeless people he saw.
We’ve seen all sorts of despicable behavior from TikTok influencers to well-known streamers but one so-called “influencer” has crossed a line with his controversial attention-grabbing antics. The man, who goes by the name “povwolfy,” has posted a series of videos to TikTok and Instagram which garnered more than 14 million views before being taken off of TikTok according to an article from NYPost.
The viral videos feature povwolfy, who’s real name is Keith Castillo, walking around Austin and New Orleans and approaching numerous homeless individuals before offering them bottles of alcohol and large blades, some as long as 18 inches. The videos have since disappeared from TikTok along with Castillo’s page although the shocking footage has already been reposted by others.
“Here, want one of these?” Castillo can be heard asking one homeless person in his video, One woman even asks, “can I get one more?”
Obviously this isn’t a good idea
Hopefully you don’t need me to explain why this could potentially be dangerous and irresponsible. Castillo likely knows that his actions will generate controversy and that will inevitably lead to more eyes on him which is why he’s doing it. But handing out deadly weapons is never a good idea and someone could end up hurt.
Another TikToker by the name of Ben Event labeled Castillo’s actions “a recipe for disaster,” and it’s hard to disagree.
The influencer seemingly mocked the plight of the homeless he was handing these weapons to as he wrote in the caption, “Keeping the homeless in the streets.” Although he also supposedly claimed that his actions were to keep the homeless safe.
Keith Castillo is touring the U.S.
Concerningly, before his videos disappeared, Castillo claimed that he had many more machetes to give out and that he was planning to head to Las Vegas soon before making his way to New York in the new year.
Castillo also claimed that he had spoken to the authorities and had been informed that what he was doing wasn’t illegal, meaning there may not even be a legal way to prevent him continuing this tour. He also admitted that he did not care about the potential chaos his actions could cause, stating, “it’s good for the clicks and views.”
While the videos have disappeared from TikTok, videos of him handing out alcohol and cigarettes are still up on Instagram. Hopefully this means his account on at least one of the apps was taken down and he may stop handing out dangerous weapons, although it doesn’t seem like he’s going to fully stop what he’s doing anytime soon.
