‘No surprise I’m sick’: Albertsons shopper discovers terrifying source of his illness hiding under the broccoli display

This has to be a health violation.

A massive health concern is brewing for Albertsons after a customer discovered disgusting black mold growing directly underneath the store’s fresh produce display. This led the shopper and TikToker to believe it’s the source of his recent sickness.

This is absolutely awful. If you’re buying veggies here, you’re not just getting fresh food; you might be getting a dose of something way worse. TikToker Scooter The Explorer (@hoodtravelguide) shared his shocking discovery in a video that has already racked up over 3 million views.

The video starts with the customer walking up to the chilled produce section at the grocery chain. He points out an empty bay right next to where the broccoli sits. “Look what’s under it,” he says, revealing a thick coating of black and brown sludge covering the floor of the empty bay. The material definitely looks like mold…

Mold is being blamed for a sickness an Albertson’s customer has

The TikToker immediately connects the discovery to a massive potential health hazard. He focused on the fan located at the bottom of the shelf. He suggests this fan is likely blowing mold spores directly up onto the fresh, clean vegetables above.

“Moldy water all on your f***ing [produce],” he remarked in the clip. “Rinse you down with the mold water. That’s horrible.”

The concern here isn’t just about something looking gross. This is a serious health risk. According to the United States Department of Agriculture, inhaling mold on produce can lead to respiratory issues for consumers. The USDA strongly advises shoppers against buying any products that have been exposed to mold. If that fan is blowing spores, every vegetable on that shelf is potentially compromised.

It makes me mad that prices have gone up, but the quality hasn’t risen with it. This has the potential to be worse than E. coli spreading, because mold can be deadly.

The caption accompanying the video warns shoppers, “Be careful where you buy your produce.” Scooter The Explorer even coughs at the end of the clip. He links the mold directly to his own health issues, writing, “I’m just trying bring awareness and no surprise I’m sick this where I been buying veggies at.”

Naturally, viewers were completely horrified by the footage. Many commenters immediately suggested that the TikToker needs to contact either Albertsons management or the local health department right away to report the issue.

Most of the outrage centered on the clear lack of basic cleaning procedures. People are calling out both management and store employees for what they see as laziness. This isn’t just a minor housekeeping issue. Keeping these undercarriages spotless is a crucial part of food safety protocols across the industry.

That kind of attention to detail is what customers expect when they shop for fresh food. It’s pretty clear that if the mold gets this bad, someone isn’t doing their required weekly or monthly deep cleaning.
