Rob Reiner’s comments on Charlie Kirk death compared to Trump’s statement on Reiner’s death show which side has more compassion

Rob Reiner was a kind man through and through, the same cannot be said of Trump.

Donald Trump’s insensitive reaction to the brutal murder of Hollywood director Rob Reiner has revealed his narcissistic personality once again. In a statement posted to social media, the president claimed that Reiner’s death was the result of the “anger he caused others,” despite backlash he has so far refused to back down on his words.

Few have even bothered trying to defend Donald Trump’s words, (mainly because it’s indefensible), however there are some who have tried to compare the response to Reiner’s death to that of Charlie Kirk. In the weeks and months since the political activist’s death, some online have made a mockery of Kirk’s death which in some people’s minds justifies the president of the United States doing the same to Rob Reiner.

Rob Reiner’s response to Kirk’s death proves he was better than Trump

But even though some of Kirk’s detractors made light of his death it hardly justifies Trump’s hateful statement about a man who was murdered in cold blood. If anything, it demonstrates the president’s own hypocrisy as he’s clearly more than happy to mock someone’s death if they weren’t a supporter.

Furthermore, Reiner demonstrated that he was a more sensitive and kind human when compared to Trump and his ilk. His spoke about Charlie Kirk, (someone he strongly disagreed with), after his death but rather than spreading malice like Trump, he condemned the assassination and even commended Charlie’s widow, Erika Kirk, for her moving words at the funeral.

The moment was shared on X, side-by-side with the venomous statement left by Trump in the wake of Reiner’s death. Speaking to Piers Morgan, Reiner described Kirk’s death as “absolute horror,” he went on to say, “that should never happen to anybody.”

Unlike Donald Trump, it seems Reiner was able to put aside his own opinions and beliefs and recognise that Charlie Kirk was indeed a human who deserved to live. So the argument that some on the left mocked Kirk’s death really doesn’t work as a counterpoint to why Trump’s statement was just plain wrong.

Has Trump gone too far?

Thankfully it seems like most are sane enough to recognise that the president’s statement was a step too far. Even Trump’s closest allies have called him out, Fox News branded his words as being “well beneath him and beneath the office.”

On X, some labeled Trump “a heartless narcissist unfit for leadership” Others pointed out how Trump had somehow turned a tragic double homicide into yet another “victory lap for his ego.” It seems the only person suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome is Trump himself, he simply can’t help but make everything about himself.
