‘You’re an illegal alien?!?’: Trump email threatens MAGA fans with ICE raid if they don’t answer survey

The fun thing about the monster that is fascism is that it eventually comes for everyone, even its most devoted supporters. But, frankly, Donald Trump is coming in a little ahead of schedule on that one if this extraordinarily ominous email sent out to his supporters is anything to go by.

First up, the Trump fundraising effort has long relied on those who sign up for his emails being… let’s be charitable and go with “not the sharpest knives in the drawer”. They invariably address the recipient as if Trump himself is pleading with them, as if Daddy Donald thinks you – yes you – are his most special little boy or girl.

And I’m not exaggerating, click through into this bonkers MAGA world and you’ll get a message from Trump saying: “I will always love you for supporting me.” (remember, it’s not a cult!).

But a new email appears to have taken a somewhat more threatening tone. In an effort to juice participation in a “Citizens Only Survey”, a scolding email has been sent out that reads:

I can't say I'm surprised, but . . .
The Donald just asked ME and anyone who didn't answer his survey if we are ILLEGAL ALIENS. And then? He threatened to have ICE come and track me down.

“I reached out last week about my Citizens Only Survey. Your file says you’re a top MAGA patriot… But my records to my survey STILL say: RESPONSE PENDING. Don’t tell me, YOU’RE AN ILLEGAL ALIEN?!

That cannot be true! This is your FINAL MOMENT to Prove me wrong, [insert name here] – please. Are you a proud American Citizen or does ICE need to come and track you down?>”

A stupidity tax

Ordinarily, I’d be concerned about such a manipulative email being sent out to millions of dangerously gullible morons who will swallow this threat hook, line and sinker. You can easily imagine some confused elderly MAGA freaking out at the idea of them being detained and beaten half to death by ICE thugs. Just imagine the horror of being treated like the people you hate!

But, honestly, my sympathy for the MAGA base is at zero, and so on this occasion only, I’m firmly with Trump and his team. If his supporters are dumb enough to believe this, they’d probably blow their money on a handful of magic beans anyway. So, Mr President, go ahead, milk these idiot rubes for every dollar they have!
