Donald Trump’s personal attorney says it’s ‘not a crime to party with Mr. Epstein’ as he defends the president

Todd Blanche's comments have angered a lot of Americans.

Politicians are now desperately trying to downplay the connections certain high profile figures had with Jeffrey Epstein, with Donald Trump’s own personal attorney, Todd Blanche, suggesting that the president has done nothing wrong and that partying with the sex trafficker is “not a crime.”

After millions more documents relating to Epstein were released last week there has naturally been calls for prosecutions based on the evidence. But despite all this new information, it seems the DOJ believes it’s not enough to prove beyond a doubt that those named are truly guilty. Those who were in the New York financier’s inner circle will continue to evade justice for now.

This has caused a great deal of frustration among those who were hoping for some positive action to come from the release of the files. During his appearance on Fox News, the Deputy Attorney General, Todd Blanche, (AKA Trump’s personal attorney) was asked directly by the host whether there was “any chance” the individuals who partied with Epstein would be prosecuted. Blanche’s answer was disappointing.

“I’ll never say no,” Blanche claimed, before going on to add, “as you know it is not a crime to party with Mr. Epstein… It’s not a crime to email with Mr. Epstein.” Blanche seems intent on pouring water on the prospects of prosecution. He went on to claim that “if we have the evidence,” then they will pursue prosecutions. His words hardly instilled trust or hope that the DOJ would follow through though.

Who does Todd Blanche work for?

On X people expressed their anger towards Blanche and his comments, one person suggested the Deputy AG should be disbarred, “His Job is not to be Trumps personal attorney.” Another reminded us that “the Department of of Justice serves the American people, it and its attorneys do not work for the President of the United States.”

Others criticized Blanche for his lackluster answer which desperately tried to quash the idea of prosecutions as a result of the documents. Meanwhile, a few agreed that what is in the files so far isn’t enough proof to prosecute.

Many believe that Blanche is trying to protect the president, rather than carry out justice, let’s not forget, Blanche was Trump’s lawyer during his 2024 criminal trial for fraud in New York. The man might not be the most reliable or neutral person to trust with sensitive information regarding Epstein and Trump.

Whatever the case, it seems unlikely the DOJ under Trump will actively seek to prosecute those who have been named so far, especially when Trump features so prominently in the documents. Blanche’s comments only confirm what many had feared.
