Bodycam footage released by police in the U.K. shows a man crying as he realizes the life sentence he’ll likely get for the murder of his ex-girlfriend means he won’t be able to play Grand Theft Auto 6.
Robert Richens, 35, was arrested by Oxford cops on May 30th, 2025 after he phoned the police from his home and confessed that he had killed a woman. Officers and ambulance crew attended the scene where they found Rachael Vaughn, 40, in her home. Despite their best efforts they were unable to save Ms. Vaughn.
Richens was arrested the same day and charged the next day. He pled guilty to the murder charge in a hearing last December. Footage from his arrest has since been posted online and it shows Richens visibly upset as officers cuff him. He can be heard saying, “I’m gonna miss GTA and that,” to which the officer calmly replies, “Which GTA, what are you talking about Robert?” Richens then replies telling them “six,” to which the officer says, “you’ve got ages for that.”
The footage has caused outrage from many online who have labeled Robert a “manchild,” and “a pathetic waste of human life.” On TikTok, one commenter sarcastically wrote, “at least bro has his priorities straight.” Unlike GTA, the real world has consequences, something which Richens seemed unaware of.
Robert’s only concern is playing GTA 6
It seems Richens has very little remorse for his actions. The only regret he has is that he may miss the chance to play GTA 6 assuming the Rockstar actually adheres to the November release date. Some commenters online even half-joked that Richens would be out of prison before the release of GTA 7 at the very least.
Regardless, Richens lack of remorse in the matter is evident in the video of his arrest. His priorities are completely upside-down and just wrong on so many levels. The new GTA should be the least of his concerns after he’s just killed a woman in her own home.
“My thoughts remain with Rachael Vaughan’s family and with everyone who loved her as they continue to face what is an unimaginable loss.” Senior investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Stuart May said, as per ITV.com. He added, “Robert Richens’ actions were heartless. He left Rachael alone in her house, made no attempt to help her or seek medical attention and he only contacted police when he had nowhere else to turn.”
Richens was sentenced to a minimum of 16 years and one month by the Oxford Crown Court for the murder of Rachael Vaughn. People joked, but with a prison sentence that short he could well be out and free by the time GTA 7 is finally released.
