Sometimes prying into your partner’s internet activity can lead you to seeing things you weren’t meant to see. In some cases it’s better to stay ignorant, but in others it’s definitely better to be in the know. One woman on TikTok unfortunately found the latter statement to be true after finding out her boyfriend was watching manosphere red-pill content.
TikToker @slimshaely decided to poke through her boyfriend’s YouTube history and quickly made a disturbing discovery. Her partner was watching content typically targeted towards misogynists and lonely males. Videos that were essentially how-tos explaining how to manipulate and take advantage of women, the sort of stuff a normal and respectful boyfriend wouldn’t even dream of watching.
The worst part is the red bar at the bottom of the videos shows he has watched them all the way through. Yikes. While Shaely laughs about it in the video she seems concerned about what she has found.
Sounds like a toxic boyfriend
Obviously a person watching videos on how to manipulate their partner 24/7 is not a good sign for the longevity of a relationship. At that point things are likely already beyond saving and there is nothing left to do but for Shaely to cut her losses and run.
Tons of comments asked her whether she had dumped the boyfriend upon finding out as the wording in the video suggested she was still with him. Thankfully she confirmed in another video on TikTok that she had, the caption also reads, “I’m actually praying for his next gf lmao.”
It goes without saying but there’s no need for manipulation in a relationship, anyone with that mindset is doomed to fail. Luckily for Shaely she was able to catch her boyfriend red-handed but there are a lot of young men who get sucked into believing this type of manosphere content and actually try applying it to real life.
Such content can lead young men to developing harmful and incorrect views, particularly about women, the topic became the subject of the Netflix drama, Adolescence. According to dvact.org, around 80% of 16-17 year old boys in the UK had consumed content from the popular and controversial manosphere influencer known as Andrew Tate.
In Shaely’s case it seems her ex-boyfriend’s choice in the content he consumed may have directly led to the downfall of their relationship. While it’s great that she was able to see his toxic side and break things off, we can only hope he learns and grows before he finds himself a new girlfriend for her sake, whoever she may be.
