Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert caused problems when she took a photo of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton during her closed-door deposition related to a House probe of Jeffrey Epstein, possibly violating protocol. She then texted the image to conservative podcaster, Benny Johnson.
According to C-SPAN footage shared online, that same day, a reporter asked Boebert, “Why did you send that photo?” She responded, “I just returned to my hotel room and installed the BleachBit software,” a free, open-source system cleaner and privacy manager. “So, in regards to taking photos,” she added, “I do not recall.”

In 2016, during the first Trump administration, then House Select Committee on Benghazi Chairman Trey Gowdy accused Clinton of using BleachBit to erase emails related to the Benghazi investigation, the September 11, 2012, terrorist attack on the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya, which killed four Americans, per Politico.
None of the ten official investigations into the Benghazi attack found evidence of criminal wrongdoing or intentional misconduct by Clinton.
Social media response to Boebert saying “I can’t recall,” noted, “If she can’t remember what she did TODAY why isn’t she in the hospital and restricted from official duties?” But others added,
You see the irony in this post right? Hillary just said she did not recall having met Epstein. So according to what you just wrote, she was dodging the question. I guess Hillary should at least have the spine to admit it as well!
Critics argued that by photographing Clinton and texting it to Johnson, Boebert may have violated House ethics guidelines. Supporters, however, framed the move as an attempt to increase transparency around the probe tied to Epstein. The hearing was paused for a period of time while Clinton’s lawyers and committee members addressed the breach.

Johnson, meanwhile, shared the Clinton photo on X, captioned,

After her closed-door deposition, Clinton said she “answered every question,” while sharply criticizing the inquiry as politically motivated. Speaking to reporters afterward, Clinton said she had “no idea” about Epstein’s criminal conduct and did not recall meeting him, adding that she never visited his properties or flew on his plane.
She reiterated that any past acquaintance with Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell was casual and unrelated to criminal activity.
Clinton also described the deposition as a “fishing expedition” and accused Republican lawmakers of using the proceeding to score political points and distract from President Trump.
She said she would have preferred the session to be public, arguing that transparency would allow Americans to judge the exchange for themselves. Clinton also suggested some questions strayed beyond the scope of Epstein’s case, including UFOs, calling parts of the session unproductive. Despite controversy surrounding a leaked photograph taken during the deposition, the testimony concluded after several hours without further interruption.
