‘Questions that deserve public answers’: Marjorie Taylor Greene joins MAGA voices wondering if Trump assassination attempt was a hoax

Why is there no scar left?

Marjorie Taylor Greene is the latest prominent voice connected to MAGA to publicly re-question the narrative surrounding the assassination attempt on Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania.

She took to X to state: “I’m not calling the Butler assassination a hoax. But there are a lot of questions that deserve public answers. I’m asking why won’t Trump release the information about Matthew Crooks? Did he actually act alone?”

Her posts highlight a growing trend among supporters who feel that the official story is incomplete and that a cover-up might be underway. The incident in question occurred on July 13, 2024, during an open-air campaign rally.

A 20-year-old shooter positioned on a nearby roof fired shots, one of which grazed the top of Trump’s ear. Tragically, Corey Comperatore, a supporter in the crowd, was killed during the event. The shooter was subsequently neutralized by Secret Service agents. While many initially viewed the survival of the president as a sign of divine intervention, the mood among some of his base has shifted significantly over the past few months.

The man cried wolf too often

Greene’s recent activity on X includes engaging with other figures who are also demanding a deeper investigation. She replied to a post on April 18th, emphasizing that the family of Corey Comperatore deserves the truth about what happened that day. “President Trump, of all people, should be leading the charge. Why isn’t he? That’s the question.” This sentiment aligns with a broader push from others, including longtime MAGA supporter Trisha Hope.

On April 13th, Hope, recounted attending a convention and hearing Trump tell the crowd that he would only speak about the shooting once because it was too painful to discuss. Hope described this as a “red flag,” suggesting that it was an attempt to shut down further conversation.

“Since the attempt on his life, Trump has shown no interest in investigating what really happened.  He never mentions it, it’s as if it never happened, except when he tells us, he took a bullet for us,” she said

She also pointed out that one of the Secret Service agents that day, Sean Curran, who should have been reprimanded, was promoted to head of the Secret Service. ‘They allowed President Trump to stand up, exposing multiple potential kill shots, as the flag is gently lowered.  Interesting that the other SS agents lower their heads as the perfectly time ICONIC photo is taken.’

The skepticism isn’t limited to these voices. Other public figures have been vocal about their doubts as well. Tim Dillon, a former staunch supporter, suggested on his show that the event may have been staged to influence voters. Meanwhile, former counterterrorism center director Joe Kent sat down with Tucker Carlson to discuss the failure of the administration to provide details.

On platforms like Telegram, prominent figures like MJ Truth are polling their followers, many of whom express a belief that the truth will never come out. The rhetoric has taken various directions. Some, like Ali Alexander, have even suggested that the incident aligns with biblical prophecies regarding the Antichrist, referencing a passage in Revelation about a mortal wound being healed. Or regrown by miracle doctors, if you want to believe that.

Others have attempted to link the event to broader geopolitical control or internal political maneuvering, with figures like Candace Owens suggesting that donors may have been involved in a plot. These theories often lack evidence, yet they continue to gain traction as the official investigation remains a point of contention for those who feel ignored.

The frustration clearly stems from a vacuum of information. As Kent noted, a refusal to address questions will lead people to draw their own conclusions. For supporters like Hope, the refusal to hold anyone accountable for the security failures in Butler is the primary driver of this distrust. She explicitly stated, “If you cannot look at this story, and use critical thinking skills and have at least some questions, you are the problem, and we need you to snap out of it.”

As this conversation continues to evolve, the demand for transparency from the top of the MAGA movement is becoming impossible to ignore. Whether or not these questions will ever be addressed to the satisfaction of these supporters remains to be seen.

For now, the narrative surrounding the events in Butler has clearly fractured, with a significant portion of the base moving away from the initial consensus toward a more critical and often skeptical perspective. The pressure on the administration to provide more than just the initial account is only building, and figures like Greene are ensuring that these questions remain in the public eye.
